FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

A Cooperative Financial Institution (CFI) is a member-owned, member-governed financial co-operative. It operates on co-operative principles, where members pool their savings and capital to provide financial services to one another. Unlike commercial banks, CFIs exist to empower their communities rather than maximize corporate profit.
Payments can be made directly into the Dikhumo Investments bank account via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) or cash deposit. When making a payment, always use your unique Application Reference Number (received upon submitting your form) as the payment reference to ensure automated reconciliation.
Yes, you are welcome and encouraged to acquire more than the minimum 3 shares (R1,500) over time to increase your economic stake and participation in the cooperative's growth. However, in accordance with democratic cooperative governance, holding more shares does not increase your voting weight—every member holds exactly one vote.
No, the administration/joining fee is strictly non-refundable as it covers the immediate costs of onboarding, database processing, and compliance setup. However, member share capital (contributions towards your shares) is refundable upon membership termination, subject to the conditions outlined in the cooperative's Constitution and liquidity policy.
Dikhumo Investments operates under strict governance compliance. As a Cooperative Financial Institution, we are guided by our Constitution, overseen by our elected Executive Committee, and subject to oversight and audit regulations. All funds are kept securely and managed transparently, with annual audits presented at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
